Construction of Equestrian facilities
Client: Private contract
Timing: Summer 2010
In summer 2010 we launched a new service – the construction of Equestrian facilities.
Our first project, commissioned by a private client, was to build a 40m x 20m all-weather equestrian arena that would complement existing stabling and paddock facilities. Key to our brief was ensuring the completed arena would stand up to inclement weather conditions, as many similar facilities struggle with water drainage problems following heavy rain or snow, resulting from poor structural design.
Once the location had been cleared, we excavated and levelled the site and marked and cut in drainage channels. We then added a membrane above and below a base layer of rounded stone and topped with a dual layer of all weather sand and rubber composite. Wood fencing was added to secure the arena and complete the job.
The client is delighted with the results - the heavy winter snow falls and subsequent thawing have presented no problems and the arena is in regular use.
